"Know thyself" — inscribed at the Temple of Delphi, and still the hardest instruction ever given.
Self-Awareness is a popular buzz-word in leadership and coaching, but it is a construct which is easily confused with other terms about self e.g. self-knowledge and self-confusion. If we are not clear on what self-awareness is, how it is defined, what the components of it are - how can we even be self-aware. In this short webinar, Julia will share the findings from her PhD research a practical and accessible definition of self-awareness, and also highlight why we are never as self-aware as we think we are. If you are interested in self-awareness, want to develop or deepen your self-awareness, think you are self-aware or are just curious come and join us to find out more.
This webinar draws on the research behind Julia's book, You Are Not As Self-Aware As You Think You Are (2025).
It is intended for leaders, coaches, and consultants who want a clearer, more practical grip on what self-awareness actually is, and anyone who's simply curious whether they're as self-aware as they think.
This webinar will be delivered by Dr Julia Carden, who has coached senior leaders across the public and private sectors for over 15 years, following an earlier career as a Royal Naval Officer and Civil Service with the Ministry of Defence. Julia is a Professional Certified Coach with the ICF and an EMCC-accredited Master Practitioner and Coaching Supervisor. She holds a PhD in Self-Awareness and an MSc in Executive Coaching and Behavioural Change, both from Henley Business School, where she is also a visiting tutor. Her research became the foundation of her book, You Are Not As Self-Aware As You Think You Are, published in October 2025.
