Your Shadow Is Your Strength

  • 120-day access

WEBINAR Saturday 21st March 2026 • 10:00 - 11:00 CET Time This webinar introduces a Jungian view of self-awareness, exploring the shadow and how it shows up in leadership and relationships. You’ll learn to recognise these dynamics in real time and practise a simple way to regain inner balance and choice under pressure.

Most of us think self awareness means being able to describe ourselves. My strengths. My weaknesses. My values. My goals.

Some people give this barely a thought. Others spend years reflecting, analysing, improving. Yet both groups often meet the same limit. Our self awareness usually reaches only as far as what we already know, and what we can make sense of with logic.

Carl Jung offered a different starting point. Self awareness begins with humility. The recognition that we do not know everything about ourselves, and that a large part of what shapes our choices sits outside conscious control.

This is where the shadow becomes so interesting.

The shadow is not simply the dark or the destructive. It is everything we have learned to push aside in order to belong, be admired, stay safe, or be seen as competent. It can hold anger, envy, grief, and fear. It can also hold vitality, tenderness, courage, ambition, and creative force. Parts of the shadow are unwanted. Parts are simply unused. Either way, what is pushed away does not disappear. It returns as patterns.

It shows up when you over explain and cannot stop. When you go quiet and disappear. When you become sharp, superior, or strangely certain. When you people please and then feel resentful. When the Inner Critic takes the microphone and turns life into a performance review.

In this webinar we will explore what the shadow is, why it forms, and how it leaks into leadership and relationships. You will learn to recognise early signals, and you will see why insight alone is often not enough. The shadow does not shift because we understand it. It shifts when we relate to it differently.

I will also introduce a simple practical way to work with shadow dynamics in real time, based on my psychodynamic method honey ghost trap®. You will be invited to play with your inner theatre, notice which inner roles are currently on stage, and practise returning to a more grounded inner position, what I call Natural Balance and a more mature voice.

You will leave with:

  • A clear Jungian lens on shadow dynamics, including the difference between dark shadow and bright shadow.

  • A simple language for what happens inside you under pressure, especially in leadership and change.

  • A short practice you can use immediately, for yourself or with clients, to create more inner psychological safety and freer choice.

All participants will also receive the chapter “Shadow at Work” from Ann’s book Your Shadow Is Your Strength.

This webinar is for leaders, coaches, consultants, and anyone who wants to become more whole, not just more polished.

This webinar will be delivered by Ann Askenberger, author of Your Shadow Is Your Strength: Embracing Your Whole Self in All the Roles You Live. She is the creator of honey-ghost-trap®, a psychodynamic method that helps leaders and organisations transform shadow dynamics into sources of strength. With over 20 years of experience exploring how unconscious dynamics shape leadership, teams, and change, Ann brings both depth and practical insight. Her work is grounded in Carl Jung’s theories of the shadow and research from INSEAD Business School. In this session, she will offer a fresh lens on hidden inner dynamics and share a simple, grounded practice from honey-ghost-trap® to strengthen inner psychological safety and widen your choices.
